Saturday Lunch at AidaPosted: September 2, 2012
In the spirit of new neighborhood joints, we finally made it to Aida yesterday for lunch. Like Pizza Luce – also three minutes from our house (just the other way on 66th), it was such a nice day that we decided to walk over.
Aida opened late last winter, so maybe not new-new, but we were long overdue for a visit. They serve fresh, flavorful Mediterranean meals prepared just how you’d like.
There were a few occupied tables, but it was pretty quiet for a Saturday afternoon.
Ordering was super simple, but the choices were a little overwhelming. It all sounded so YUM!
Pick sandwich, salad, or plate. Then meat (or not). Then toppings (up to three) and sauce. Then wait and drool!
What a delicious, mouthwatering MESS of a lunch!
I had cucumber yogurt sauce ALL over meself, and you know what? I cared not one bit. My sandwich was so so GOOD. The Naan was fresh and dense and perfect. The falafel was crunchy on the outside and filled with fluffy ground chickpeas and fava beans. I longed for a vat of the sauce.
DT raved about his pita too – and the flaming red sauce? Apparently flaming hot!
We couldn’t stop talking about our yummy lunch for the rest of the day! I hope Aida is a success – we loved it and will definitely return.
Oh, and on our way home we scored a free lawnmower (which we didn’t particularly need and which DT pushed down the street about 10 blocks. So cool). It was sitting at the end of a driveway with a “free” sign. Why not?
Do we know how to rock out Labor Day weekend or what?!
