Minnetonka Orchards 2013Posted: October 22, 2013
DT, the kiddos, and I made our annual trek to Minnetonka Orchards on Saturday. A little later than we normally go, I sure would have liked some mittens (what was I thinking?)!
The four of us were starving when we arrived, so we made a beeline for lunch by the Apple Barn.
While we waited in line, a rather healthy and unpleasant shower of rain and hail fell – Sam, Henry, and I ran for cover while DT braved the elements waiting for our food. Nice guy he is.
Hoods up everyone!
By the time we got our food, the sky had cleared out a tad and we saw itty bitty specks of blue sky. Teensy and fleeting, but we’ll take it!
The hot dogs (Sam and Henry), hamburger (DT), and veggie burger (me) warmed us and gave sustenance for the afternoon ahead.
All filled up and ready to pick some apples!
Despite the chill and precipitation, it really was the quintessential day to be at the orchard. The colors were so pretty!
We made our way back up to the barn for the fall treat we’ve been craving since our last visit: APPLE DONUTS.
Helllllllloooooooo you sweet little darlings….
A unanimous YUM from all of us!
With apple donuts coming out of our ears, we visited the petting zoo….
Look at this sweetie!
Then a trip through the [very muddy] corn maze.
Before we left, Sam and Henry saw how tall this fall they are….what a year can do! Sam will be taller than me any day now – his hands and feet are already bigger/as big as mine. Eeep!
So glad we have this tradition every fall, it’s such a wonderful place! Until next year, Minnetonka Orchards!
